Over the past few days, I’ve been thinking about where I want to take this blog moving forward. Part of that process has involved looking back on past posts. And in so doing, I’ve learned a lot.
I’ve never been good at keeping a personal journal. I have tried many times but never stick with it. However, this blog has, in part, become a sort of journal. Sure, there are things I don’t put on here because they involve stories that aren’t mine to tell, but there is still so much progress I can see when I look back to where I was when I started.
Progress within mental health recovery tends to be painstakingly slow, sometimes so much so that it is difficult for us to see the changes being produced by our recovery. Yet it is good to have some objective way of measuring our progress. Perhaps it is a journal, perhaps it is a blog, perhaps it is a friend who can offer reassurances and reminders of how far you’ve come. Whatever it is, it can be such a boost to your recovery when you can see your progress.
So wherever you are amid this global shutdown, here is hoping you can find the time and the means to reflect on the growth and progress you’ve made. And as always, thanks for reading.
